Serving the Homeless on a Cold Winter Day

Updated: 1 day ago

We bundled up and headed out with a mission close to our hearts: serving the homeless. Today, New Year's Day, was a stark reminder of the harsh realities faced by so many who call the streets, their cars, or a tent their home. Despite the biting cold, the warmth of gratitude and was in every interaction.

We were blessed to serve over 75 hot meals—each one a small gesture of care in the face of immense need. As we served meals, the words of gratitude we received in return were humbling. For some, this meal was a rare moment of comfort; for others, it was a reminder that they are not forgotten.

One man, wrapped in a thin blanket, shared how he had been living in his car for months. Another man told us that he had stayed at the shelter but couldn't return for 30 days due to a disagreement he had with

another homeless individual. A woman, who had set up a small tent, told us she was just thankful to feel safe, and have food for one more night. These stories are a reminder of the resilience of the human spirit, even in the most challenging circumstances.

In moments like these, we are reminded of our purpose: to serve, to listen, and to be a source of hope. It’s not just about the “Food”—it’s about the “Word”, a message hope.. You are seen. You are valued. You are loved."

For those of us fortunate enough to have warm homes and steady meals, these moments call us to action. There is always something we can do—whether it's donating, volunteering, or simply offering a kind word. Every act of compassion matters.

As we packed up for the day, the cold lingered, but so did the warmth in our hearts. Serving the homeless isn’t just about what we give; it’s about what we receive—a deeper understanding of humanity, a renewed sense of purpose, and the profound joy of making a difference.

Let us continue to be a light in the lives of others, no matter how small the gesture may seem. Together, we can create ripples of change, one act of kindness at a time.
