Our Story
Food and the Word Outreach Ministry was founded in 2022 after Founder and Executive Director Sequina Moore chose to celebrate her birthday by preparing and serving meals to individuals experiencing homelessness. What began as a single act of service revealed a deeper calling to meet people where they are with compassion, dignity, and faith.
As the needs of the community became more visible, that one outreach grew into a ministry committed to addressing both immediate needs and long-term restoration. Through consistent meal service, volunteer engagement, and community partnerships, Food and the Word Outreach Ministry continues to serve individuals and families facing food insecurity and homelessness across San Antonio.
In 2024, the organization received its official 501(c)(3) nonprofit status, strengthening its capacity to expand outreach, partnerships, and sustainable programs rooted in transparency and stewardship.

🍽 Nourish & Serve – Active Program
Provides hot meals, care packages, and essential supplies to individuals experiencing homelessness and food insecurity. -
🌱 Gardening for Growth – Pilot Initiative
A community-based pilot initiative offering hands-on gardening and healthy lifestyle workshops. Initial events have demonstrated strong community engagement and future expansion potential. -
🧠 Life Skills & Wellness – Program in Development
A planned initiative focused on financial literacy, job readiness, and personal development. Launch is dependent on facility access and funding partnerships. -
