How we started

Food and the Word Outreach was started from a single act of kindness, by Sequina Moore. Having the desire to do more for the homeless community. Her heart for outreach blossomed in August 2022 on her birthday, when she chose to forego dining out and receiving gifts. Instead, she dedicated to cook and deliver hot meals to the homeless. This selfless act marked the beginning of Food and the Word Outreach. The celebration of her birthday transformed into a mission to provide meals and essential supplies to those in need.

Story from THE FOUNDER

Food and the Word Outreach Ministry began in 2022 when a few people came together in San Antonio to respond to the growing crisis of homelessness and food insecurity. That year, I turned my birthday to a mission day, by personally cooking and distributing meals to the homeless.I’ve experienced homelessness and hunger myself, so this work is personal—every meal we serve is a reminder that someone still cares. What began as one act of service sparked a movement. In just two years, the ministry has served over 10,000 meals, distributed hundreds of hygiene kits, and provided clothing, prayer, and life skills support to underserved individuals and families. In 2024, FATWOM was officially incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, with Designed By HIS Hands LLC operating as a social enterprise to help sustain its outreach programs. This ministry continues to break barriers, build hope, and meet both physical and spiritual needs in low- to moderate-income communities. I’ve experienced homelessness and hunger myself, so this work is personal—every meal we serve is a reminder that someone still cares.
